5 TIPS FOR MANAGING ELECTION DAY ANXIETY

It’s a historic Election Day in the United States and you may be feeling anxious.  This could be another election that we will not know the outcome by the end of the day.  To manage your stress today and in the days ahead, remember these 5 Tips for Managing Election Day Anxiety.    

BE GRATEFUL

Take a deep breath to ground yourself and be grateful.  Remind yourself that we live in a free country where EVERYONE has the right to vote and let your voice be heard. 

TAKE A WALK/RUN

The rhythmic pattern of walking or running can be therapeutic.  This allows the mind and body to naturally relax.  In addition, fresh air and sunshine (if the weather is cooperating in your area) help lower blood pressure, improve energy levels, and strengthen immunity.  The body also produces Vitamin D from exposure to sunshine which further improves immunity and reduces depression.  

READ A FREE BOOK

Download a free audio or e-book at from your public library.  Many city libraries have apps or websites that allow members to access streaming or downloadable audio and e-books.

PLAY A GAME

Free Rice is an ad-supported, free-to-play website and mobile application that allows players to donate rice to families in need by playing a multiple-choice quiz game. For every question the user answers correctly, 5 grains of rice are donated via the United Nation’s World Food Programme app World Food Program.

Free Kibble offers a similar free-to-play fundraising platform with every right answer providing 20 pieces of kibble to be donated for shelter animals.

Adult coloring books have been trending for years as a stress-reducing activity.  Available at most grocery and convenience stores, pick one up to manage to be more present and focused on a fun task.
